Play Characteristics Table

 

Table Name:Play Characteristics Table - PLCHR##, where ## = Province number.
Table Function:This Province-level table contains the variables at the Play-level describing the input parameters used in the Assessment and the results from the Assessment.
USGS Input Tables:conv#in.tab, conv#out.tab and tsp#.tab (where # = Region number).
  1. Play Number [play_num] - the play number. [from conv#in.tab]
  2. Play Name- the play name. [from conv#in.tab]
  3. Play Geologist [geologists] - the USGS geologist(s) responsible for this play. [from conv#in.tab]
  4. Play Status [hypo_or_conf] - whether the play is hypothetical or confirmed. [from conv#in.tab]
  5. Play Source Probability [charge] - the probability of adequate hydrocarbon charge. [from conv#in.tab]
  6. Play Reservoir Probability [reservoir] - the probability of adequate hydrocarbon reservoirs. [from conv#in.tab]
  7. Play Trap Probability [trap] - the probability of adequate hydrocarbon traps. [from conv#in.tab]
  8. Play Probability [play_prob] - the play probability (product of charge, reservoir, and trap probabilities). [from conv#in.tab]
  9. Play Area- area of the play in 1000s square miles.
  10. Play Cell Exhaustion - percent of total number of cells with drilling divided by the total number of cells in the play.
  11. Play Number Wells - cumulative number of exploratory wells drilled in a the play.
  12. Play Well Density - total number of exploratory wells drilled in the Play, divided by play_area.
  13. Play Oil Cost - average 1994 cost of drilling a successful oil well in this play to the median depth of undiscovered oil fields (See Undisc'd Oil Depth Median).
  14. Play Oil Bbl/$ - (undisc_oil_size_mean x 1000000) / (play_oil_wellcost x1000).
  15. Play Gas Cost - average 1994 cost of drilling a successful gas well in this play to the median depth of undiscvered gas fields (See Undisc'd Gas Depth Median).
  16. Play Gas MCF/$ - (undisc_gas_size_mean x 1000000) / (play_gas_wellcost x 1000).
  17. Disc'd Oil Number [num_oil_disc] - the number of discovered oil accumulations in the play greater than or equal to one million barrels in size. [from conv#in.tab]
  18. Disc'd Oil Volume [total_oil] - the total volume of oil from discovered in this play (in millions of barrels). [from tsp#.tab]
  19. Disc'd Gas Number [num_gas_disc] - the number of discovered non-associated gas accumulations in the play greater than or equal to six billion cubic feet in size. [from conv#in.tab]
  20. Disc'd Gas Volume [total_gas] - the total volume of gas from accumulations discovered in this play (in billions of cubic feet). [from tsp#.tab]
  21. Disc'd NGL Volume [total_NGL] - the total volume of natural gas liquids from accumulations discovered in this play (in millions of barrels). [from tsp#.tab]
  22. Disc'd BOE Volume - total volume of oil, gas and NGL discovered in the play, expressed in barrels of oil equivalent (BOE).

  24. Disc'd GOR [GOR] - the gas/oil ratio for oil accumulations discovered in this play (in cubic feet per barrel); no equivalent for non-associated gas accumulations. [from tsp#.tab]

  26. Undisc'd Oil Volume [oil] - the mean estimate (in millions of barrels) of volume of undiscovered oil. [from conv#out.tab]
  27. Undisc'd Oil Size Median [oil_median_size] - the expected median size of the undiscovered oil accumulations (in millions of barrels). [from conv#in.tab]
  28. Undisc'd Oil Size Mean [oil_mean_size] - the mean size (in millions of barrels) of the undiscovered oil accumulations. [from conv#out.tab]
  29. Undisc'd Oil Size Maximum [oil_largest_at_5%] - the estimate such that there is a five percent chance that the largest oil accumulation is greater than this value (in millions of barrels).
  30. Undisc'd Oil Number Minimum [oil_min_num] - the minimum expected number of undiscovered oil accumulations. [from conv#in.tab]
