Play Oil Discovery History Table

Table Name:Play Discovery History Table for Oil- PLODSC##, where ## = Province number.
Table Function:This Province-level table contains the Play-level binned distribution of discovered sizes of oil fields, divided by the stage of the exploration cycle (i.e. 1/3rd or 1/2rd).
USGS Input Tables:hist#.tab, tsp#.tab and conv#in.tab (where # = Region number).
  1. Play Number [play_num] - the play number. [from hist#.tab]
  2. Play Name - the play name. [from conv#in.tab]
  3. Play Discovery Sequence [acc_disc_seq] - the portion of the discovery sequence (for example, the first third or the second half, as calculated by number of accumulations) or the total for that commodity. [from hist#.tab]
  4. Play Disc. Sequence Date [date] - the date (year) of the end of that portion of the discovery sequence. [from tsp#.tab]
  5. Play Disc. Sequence Volume [total_vol] - the total volume of resource of the commodity discovered during that portion of the discovery sequence (in thousands of barrels of oil). [from tsp#.tab]
  6. Play Disc. Sequence Size Mean [size_mean] - the mean size of accumulations discovered during that portion of the discovery sequence (in thousands of barrels of oil). [from tsp#.tab]
  7. Play Disc. Sequence Size Median [size_median] - the median size of accumulations discovered during that portion of the discovery sequence (in thousands of barrels of oil). [from tsp#.tab]
  8. Play Disc. Sequence Size Maximum [size_max] - the maximum size of accumulations discovered during that portion of the discovery sequence (in thousands of barrels of oil). [from tsp#.tab]
  9. Play Disc. Sequence Accumulations [num_accums] - the number of accumulations discovered during that portion of the discovery sequence. [from tsp#.tab]
  10. Play Disc. Sequence Shape [shape_factor] - the shape factor for the truncated shifted Pareto (TSP) distribution fit to the size data for accumulations discovered during that portion of the discovery sequence (See Houghton and others, 1993.) [from tsp#.tab]
  11. Play Disc. Sequence Fractile 95 [F95] - 95% fractile for the TSP distribution of accumulations discovered during that portion of the discovery sequence. For example 95% means that 95% of the accumulations are larger than the listed amount of resource (in thousands of barrels of oil). [from tsp#.tab]
  12. Play Disc. Sequence Fractile 50 [F50] - 50% fractile for the TSP distribution of accumulations discovered during that portion of the discovery sequence. For example 50% means that 50% of the accumulations are larger than the listed amount of resource (in thousands of barrels of oil). [from tsp#.tab]
  13. Play Disc. Sequence Fractile 05 [F05] - 5% fractile for the TSP distribution of accumulations discovered during that portion of the discovery sequence. For example 5% means that 5% of the accumulations are larger than the listed amount of resource (in thousands of barrels of oil). [from tsp#.tab]
  14. Bin 1.5 [bin_1] - the number of discovered accumulations in the play with estimated ultimate recovery (ungrown) from 1 to 2 MMBO. [from hist#.tab]
  15. Bin 3 [bin_2] - the number of discovered accumulations in the play with estimated ultimate recovery (ungrown) from 2 to 4 MMBO. [from hist#.tab]
  16. Bin 6 [bin_3] - the number of discovered accumulations in the play with estimated ultimate recovery (ungrown) from 4 to 8 MMBO. [from hist#.tab]
  17. Bin 12 [bin_4] - the number of discovered accumulations in the play with estimated ultimate recovery (ungrown) from 8 to 16 MMBO. [from hist#.tab]

  19. Bin 48 [bin_6] - the number of discovered accumulations in the play with estimated ultimate recovery (ungrown) from 32 to 64 MMBO. [from hist#.tab]
  20. Bin 96 [bin_7] - the number of discovered accumulations in the play with estimated ultimate recovery (ungrown) from 64 to 128 MMBO. [from hist#.tab]
  21. Bin 192 [bin_8] - the number of discovered accumulations in the play with estimated ultimate recovery (ungrown) from 128 to 256 MMBO. [from hist#.tab]
  22. Bin 384 [bin_9] - the number of discovered accumulations in the play with estimated ultimate recovery (ungrown) from 256 to 512 MMBO. [from hist#.tab]
